WHAT IT TAKES
The Department of Disability and Community Studies has four related programs (Classroom and Community Support, Education Assistance & Inclusion, Behaviour Intervention, & Disability and Applied Behaviour Analysis) that prepare reflective practitioners for inclusive support in educational and community-based settings. Instructors in the department typically teach a range of academic and practicum courses.

This position requires a contract faculty for practicum supervision in the Education Assistance and Inclusion Certificate. Further contracts may be awarded in the future as the need arises.

As a contract practicum instructor, you will oversee the learning of students who are practicing skills in selected sites. You will facilitate student learning as they integrate and reflect upon their educational, personal and professional experiences while on practicum and during scheduled seminars. There are three areas you will be responsible for:

• On-Site Practice and Guidance
• Group Seminars
• Evaluation/Feedback component: written mid-term and final student evaluations/grades

The Department is seeking contract instructors for the following courses:
DACS 1244 (Practicum)
DACS 1245 (Practicum)
• The successful candidate will have a Master's degree in either Disability Studies, Education or a closely related field.
• A valid BC Teacher's Certificate and experience in the K-12 system an asset.
• Experience teaching applied knowledge and skills to students an asset.
• Understanding of the roles and responsibilities of education assistants
• Excellent communication & time management skills.
Additional Information
The Department of Disability and Community Studies ( DACS ) is seeking contract faculty to instruct and supervise practicum courses commencing January 2024. Further contracts may be awarded in the future as the need arises.

The primary place of work will be the Coquitlam Campus and practicum sites around the Lower Mainland.
