Job Summary

The Team:
The BC Wildfire Service 's Executive Leadership Team is comprised of an Assistant Deputy Minister, Executive Director and 6 Directors. They are responsible for providing strategic direction to the organization, engaging with partners, and delivering on Ministry, Minister's Office, and Premier's Office initiatives on the four pillars of emergency management. To perform this work successfully, they require critical administrative support from the Executive Administrative Assistant, Executive Coordinator and Divisional Administrator.

The Role:
The Executive Administrative Assistant (EAA) is the organizational backbone of the Assistant Deputy Minister and other executive staff. Working under limited supervision, the EAA manages the daily operations of the ADM's office from document approvals to travel logistics in a rapidly changing environment. This dynamic role provides an opportunity to gain exposure to business within the BC Wildfire Service, the Natural Resource Sector and Emergency Management within British Columbia.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Grade 12 plus a certificate in office/business/public administration, other degree, or equivalent
  • 3 years' experience using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.)
  • Experience working in a confidential office capacity
  • Experience performing administrative duties including but not limited to managing staff and/or supervisor schedules, booking meetings and supporting meeting logistics
  • Experience with booking and making travel arrangements
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered


Preference statement(s)
  • Experience supporting a senior executive in Municipal, Provincial or Federal government
  • Experience with BC Public Service business applications (e.g., iExpense, e-Approvals, CLIFF)
  • Experience working in the Ministry of Forests

About this Position:
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
Flexible work options may not be available during emergency operations response periods.
This position is excluded from union membership.
