Job Description
Are you experienced in preparing documents and correspondence to kickstart legal proceedings for enforcing payment? We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Legal and Insolvency Clerk to join our Collections team. In this role, you'll be the go-to person for answering questions about departmental policies and procedures related to legal account collections.
You'll also handle bankruptcy and insolvency documents while coordinating with employers and trustees. If you're a highly organized individual who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, this is the perfect opportunity for you!

Where you'll work
At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines working remotely, and in our offices based on the operational needs of the position.
- Receive collection files with instructions to prepare documents to commence legal proceedings to enforce payment of accounts
- Determine the proper court registry or land title office and prepare documentation such as writs of seizure and sale, land judgments, and garnishing orders
- Ensure that all legal documents are properly signed, sealed, and recorded, and prepare the legal documents for mailing
- Receive and record payments received on accounts for which legal action was undertaken and forward payments to accounting
- Process bankruptcy and insolvency documents, as well as collect overpayments
- Coordinate, prioritize, and monitor tasks in an environment with frequent interruptions
- Communicate effectively to develop and maintain positive working relationships with many different types of people
- Gather and understand information from a variety of sources and accurately relay it to customers and team members
- Meet customer needs in a professional manner, sometimes in a stressful, deadline oriented environment
- A minimum of grade 12 education ; some post-secondary education is preferred
- A minimum of one years' experience in an office clerical or business environment
- Previous experience in a collections or legal field is considered an asset
- Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute
- Proficient use of Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to perform business math calculations
