The Opportunity:
WSP is currently seeking a Vice President, Environmental Advisory within our Earth & Environment business sector. WSP has Canada's largest Earth & Environment consulting business with over 5500 engineers, scientists and technicians. Our market leading position in the region draws upon decades of experience and strong client relationships in the government, industrial, energy and transportation sectors.
Reporting to the Executive Vice President, Earth & Environment, in this position you will be responsible for leading national business of ~200 specialized staff generating $30M in annual revenue. Environmental Advisory is composed of three distinct, but complimentary businesses:
As the Vice President, Environmental Advisory, you'll operate as the key strategic leader for all three businesses and play a critical role in delivering on our strategic and operational plans. The three markets have strong tailwinds lending from industry investment in the energy transition, new technologies and Artificial Intelligence. Through your technical expertise and understanding of the Earth & Environment industry, you'll rely on your prior leadership experience to develop WSP's potential in this strong and growing market.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will visibly champion the WSP imperatives of safety (HSE), Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and ethics & compliance to ensure they are an overriding part of the organizational culture
- You will lead the evolution of the environmental advisory business by developing and leading a strategy and vision to support long term sustainable growth
- You will be client facing, supporting the development of and growth of new and existing clients across the three business lines
- You will be active in setting a culture of innovation to bring technology and artificial intelligence solutions into our advisory service offering, including the development of alternative commercial models for revenue generation
- You will develop the business line operating plans and financial forecasts in collaboration with the Senior Vice President
- You will provide leadership by communicating the operating plan and targets, engaging all business line operational and project management employees in achieving the objectives for the business
- You are responsible for optimizing the performance of the business line's operations, including, project margin, staff utilization, DSO, and administration costs
- With key support by the business line finance leader who forecasts the business line's financial performance, you will ensure accurate revenue recognition and preparation of monthly/ quarterly/annual forecasts.
- You will define contracting strategies, commercial terms and measures to manage and mitigate risk during key pursuit processes including interacting directly with customers during negotiations
- You will provide guidance and direction to ensure operational and project delivery excellence
- You will conduct regular project reviews to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost to complete estimates are in order
- Work collaboratively with other WSP sectors, including energy, industrial and transportation teams to ensure integrated planning and execution of multi- disciplinary projects
What you'll bring to WSP:
- A Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or other technical discipline
- Minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience managing and leading an advisory or earth and environment business
- Demonstrated ability to capitalize on a thriving market to expand and grow a business and client base
- A strong and sustained history of delivering quality financial performance and results
- Demonstrated leadership with a high and positive credibility factor
- Strong demonstration of health and safety leadership
- A passion for working in and leading a diverse and inclusive team
- A strong reputation for uncompromising integrity
- Exceptional judgment balanced with informed risk taking
- Highly professional skills with strong written and oral communication
- The ability to successfully lead with little direction to meet organizational goals
