What you can expect to do here:
  • Perform engineering design tasks on assigned projects under the supervision of a Senior or Lead Technical Engineer or Project Manager.
  • Provide engineering services in support of planning, studies, analysis, and design of water treatment and distribution systems, as well as wastewater collection and treatment systems, which may include pump/lift stations, wells, chemical feed systems, and storage reservoirs.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, reports, presentations, and regulatory applications/permits for water and wastewater, and municipal engineering projects and bid packages.
  • Prepare contract documents for construction.
  • Provide contract administration during construction, including submittals review, responses to requests for information, contract document clarifications, change management, progress estimates, and site reviews.
  • Assist in the development of project scope, budget and schedule.
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering proposals.
  • Ability to mentor and develop junior staff while working on projects.
  • Work in partnership with members of other WSP offices on projects and project pursuits.
  • Seek mentorship and training opportunities to expand technical knowledge.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant post-education experience in civil engineering, water and wastewater design.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer within Canada, or the ability to obtain a professional designation within 6 months.
  • Experience in consulting engineering and project management is an asset.
  • Well-developed understanding of relevant areas of water and wastewater, and civil engineering, including process design.
  • Applicant must possess strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work on multiple, unique assignments simultaneously.
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to prepare written reports, coordinate meetings, and conduct effective client presentations.
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in a project team setting.
  • Ability to function independently with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team setting, which includes engineers, planners, technicians and environmental scientists.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project sites as required. Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Plant 3D, WaterCAD, SewerCAD and/or ArcGIS is a plus.
